Moving to Florida faded the fast-paced lifestyle I was accustomed to in Boston. Everything was much slower and very laid-back. I grew to like this style of living but driving was such a pain in the a**!
When I moved into my place near the coast, I needed a quick, simple, relaxing way to get around. My humble abode is a 7-minute drive from the beach. I became tired of driving my car to go swimming and surfing. Plus, trying to find a parking spot is a damn nightmare at times! This prompted my search for a bike.
I didn’t want just any bike though. One of my first bicycles was a mountain bike. I didn’t really care for it. Also, there are no mountains in Florida, so I quickly scratched that option. I owned a BMX bike once when I was younger. I’m older now and this type of bike was simply to small for my needs. I did look at racing and road bikes but those were too fast for my taste. I wanted to cruise along at a leisurely pace. Ya feel me?!
When I visited my old college roomie in San Diego a few years back, I remember riding a beach cruiser he owned. I thought to myself, this thing is so much fun to ride!. Therefore, I started my search for a cruiser bike. It would be perfect for my expeditions to the beach and also an excellent way to get around town.
